Or, a "free session" or two with a personal trainer is offered to the not yet fit with the false assumption is that this process will suddenly and without warning create a dynamic whereby someone who IS NOT YET and not a regular exerciser will become one! People who are "not yet fit" need represent a rapidly growing segment of health and wellness business new members. The "not yet fit" to be educated, motivated and then lead along a continuum of exercise prescription if they are to have any real hope of becoming a regular exerciser. Also, the personal trainer who is trying to encourage the new "not yet fit" person to commit to a regular exercise regimen is under-prepared to do so due to lack of training and guidance in this important aspect of client development.

"That's just the way it has always been done so it must be correct"


"Our members don't want personal training"

"Our personal trainers all have a minimum of a Masters Degree in a related field and they all have ACSM Certification, so anybody who wants personal training will rush to ask them about it"


And a host of other false assumptions and old school rhetoric that has crippled maximum performance potential in personal training for most personal trainers and commercial personal training businesses.
